Learning Technologies—MA

This Masters in Learning Technologies professional degree prepares digital educators to design and facilitate inclusive online and blended learning environments for K-12 students, adult learners, and life-long learning in a variety of contexts. Students of all varieties need to be able to thrive, advance, and contribute in an interconnected and constantly changing society. Educators interested in meeting these needs will gain the digital age skills and pedagogical strategies in order to be successful in the many roles they play as teachers and learners. In addition, digital educators prepared in this program will be able to leverage the technologies available to them in order to succeed in the rapidly changing 21st century classroom. Program participants intending to support educational technology in higher education, non-profit, or corporate learning environments will be prepared to provide personalized digital learning for a variety of learners and contexts.

Graduates of the 老司机传媒 Learning Technologies program may serve as classroom teachers, curriculum specialists, teacher educators, educational/instructional technology specialists, directors of digital learning, instructional technology consultants, and researchers.

PROGRAM LENGTH

33 credits for students with a Bachelor in education or equivalent degree. Up to 15 credit hours of prerequisites depending on undergraduate degree and educational technology courses taken. Can typically be completed by a full-time student needing no prerequisites in 2 years. 

APPLICATION DEADLINES

Prospective students must submit their applications by the dates listed below.

  • Fall (August–December): July 15
  • Spring (January–May): November 15
  • Summer Session 1 (May–June): April 1
  • Summer Session 2 (June–July): May 1
  • Summer Session 3 (July–August): June 1

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • The MA requires a bachelors degree (or non-U.S equivalent) from an accredited institution and a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.60.
  • Official transcripts from all schools where undergraduate or graduate courses were taken.
  • Two recommendation letters. Recommenders may be advisors, major professors or employers.
  • Resume describing employment, research or special projects.
  • A 600-word statement of purpose explaining how your professional goals fit with the mission of the Learning Technologies program. Identify whether you will focus on K12 students or other educational technology contexts (i.e. corporate training, digital outreach, higher education). Describe your skill level with technology and include links to your digital footprint.
  • A completed Professional Experience form.
  • TOEFL, IELTS or PTE (academic): Students whose language of education is not English must submit English proficiency test scores.
