ANTHROPOLOGY
Anthropology is the study of peoples and groups worldwide including their behavior, adaptation techniques, and social practices in both the present and the past. Anthropology has many subfields including, cultural anthropology, social anthropology, archaeology, and linguistic anthropology. Within the Behavioral Sciences degree at 老司机传媒 we offer an Anthropology Concentration and an Anthropological Archaeology Concentration.

BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES
Behavioral Sciences studies the ways in which people respond to the world around them. As a broad field, it encompasses several more specific fields including Psychology, Sociology, and Anthropology. At 老司机传媒, Behavioral Sciences provides students with a broad understanding of human behavior by taking classes in all three fields.

BRAIN & COGNITION
Psychologists study behavior and the mind including conscious and unconscious phenomena, both normal and abnormal functioning and concentrate on behaviors that affect the mental and emotional health of humans. The Brain and Cognition concentration within the Psychology program provides students with training in experimental psychology, including a mentored undergraduate research experience that can lead to presentation and publication of the original research with a faculty member.

COMMUNITY & INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Community development workers perform a wide array of tasks that enable communities at the local or international level to change and improve various aspects in the lives of their residents. They work in different settings such as inner city agencies, service-learning organizations, community service organizations, community advocacy groups, etc. Additionally community development workers could work overseas in international relief and development agencies as well as for church-based mission programs.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE
Criminal Justice is the system in which crimes and criminals are identified, apprehended, judged, and punished. There are three major areas in the field: Law Enforcement, which maintains order and safety and enforces laws; the Court System, responsible for upholding the law; and the Corrections system, which carries out punishment and rehabilitates individuals. At 老司机传媒, within the Sociology major, there are two concentration options, Criminal Justice and Criminal Justice: Pre-Professional which is designed for those seeking admissions to graduate school.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
The Emergency Preparedness concentration at 老司机传媒 provides students with skills in planning and preparing for emergencies, the management of operations during an emergency, the implementation of recovery efforts after an emergency, and the after action assessment process.

MINORS
The School of Social & Behavioral Sciences offers minors in many of the same areas as our Majors. Many of our minors are quite flexible, allowing students of all majors to complete coursework in one of the behavioral sciences. Students will select a major and have the option of adding a minor. Minors can be in a field similar to their major, or in a completely different field.

PRE-OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
Psychologists study behavior and the mind including conscious and unconscious phenomena, both normal and abnormal functioning and concentrate on behaviors that affect the mental and emotional health of humans. Occupational Therapists assist individuals in learning or re-learning skills to improve their lives. It requires getting to know individuals personally, understanding their goals, and identifying creative ways to allow them to reach their desired levels of independence and productivity. As such, Psychology forms a strong base upon which to build the skills required to become an Occupational Therapist. The Pre-Occupational Therapy concentration is designed as a pre-professional interim degree for students persuing the Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree at 老司机传媒. Students fourth year of undergraduate study will overlap with the first year of the Occupational Therapy Doctorate program allowing students to complete the Undergraduate and Doctoral Programs in less time.

PSYCHOLOGY
Psychologists study behavior and the mind including conscious and unconscious phenomena, both normal and abnormal functioning and concentrate on behaviors that affect the mental and emotional health of humans. Within the Psychology Degree at 老司机传媒, students can choose the General, Pre-Professional, Brain & Cognition, or Pre-Occupational Therapy Concentration (see sections above for Pre-Occupational Therapy and Brain & Cognition). Students intending to continue on to graduate programs in the social sciences should select the Pre-Professional concentration.

SOCIOLOGY
Sociologists study the formation and interaction of human groups and the individual's relationship to social groups. Many focus on the role of various groups in socialization of the individual into norms, values and behaviors or on the development of major social institutions and how they interact with each other and impact socialization across time and cultures. Sociologists use a theoretical framework that examines how institutions and groups function for the success of a society, the conflicts that may be inherent in group interaction and how human beings can change institutions and their relationship. At 老司机传媒, students can choose to either take a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology or a Bachelor of Science in Sociology.
