Psychologists study behavior and the mind including conscious and unconscious phenomena, both normal and abnormal functioning and concentrate on behaviors that affect the mental and emotional health of humans. The Brain and Cognition concentration within the Psychology program provides students with training in experimental psychology, including a mentored undergraduate research experience that can lead to presentation and publication of the original research with a faculty member. Within the Psychology Degree at 老司机传媒, students can choose the General, Pre-Professional or Brain & Cognition Concentrations. Students interested in continuing on to medical or dental school, should consider the Brain & Cognition concentration. Students intending to continue on to graduate school in the Social or Health Sciences should consider the Pre-Professional concentration. To recieve a degree from 老司机传媒, students must complete 120 credits, which includes their chosen Major Requirements and Andrews Core Experience (ACE) Requirements. Some students may also need general electives to reach the 120 credits or may elect to add a minor or second major. The J.N. Andrews Honors Program replaces the Andrews Core Experience Requirements for students who apply and are accepted to the program. Students seeking a Psychology degree in combination with a pre-professional medical program (pre-medicine, pre-dentistry, pre-optometry, pre-pharmacy, pre-physician assistant) are encouraged to select the Brain & Cognition concentration as it integrates well with the prerequisites needed by students seeking entrance into medical graduate programs.
