Born among the mountains and fjords of Viking country, with skis on the feet and knitting needles in hands, Marlena learned to enjoy the beauty and strength of nature in Norway. Hot saunas/badstue/banya with a tub of ice-water to dip into, knitting, gardening, travelling, and hiking are a few of the things she really enjoys – and they are enjoyed even more with family and friends.
College education brought her to the U.S. and she worked as a graphic designer for local firms in St. Joseph after graduating. During this time, she met her husband at the European Club at Andrews. Their love for travelling led them to hiking in Europe, exploring in Asia, and then to living in Yemen, where they worked with ADRA. Having lived in 4 countries, she enjoys the beauty and variety of cultures.
