Career Planning
With the guidance of a Career Coach, career planning allows students to identify their strengths, skills, talents, values, and interests and explore careers that best match their career goals. Career planning appointments are available for all currently enrolled students: undergraduate and graduate. The Career Planning process encompasses five sessions:
-
Session 1: Self-Evaluation
-
At the end of the first session, students will be directed to take an official career assessment. The assessment used for career planning sessions is the Strong Interest Inventory, which assesses students’ interests and provides career options that people with similar interests find satisfaction in.
-
Your career coach will request the assessment from the Counseling and Testing Center at the end of your first session. You will receive a follow up email from the Counseling and Testing Center with the link to the assessment and relevant instructions
-
The assessment is administered online and can be taken at the student’s leisure
-
The cost of the assessment is $18 and is applied to the student’s account
-
Other assessment options (MBTI and CliftonStrengths) are also available upon request
-
Session 2: Exploration of Possibilities (review of career assessment results)
-
Session 3: Discussing and evaluating options
-
Session 4: Goal Setting
-
Session 5: Review
Students will use the SEEK Career Planner throughout each coaching session and will be responsible for ensuring that they complete all suggested supplemental activities following each session.
