Welcome Letter to Online Students

Dear Student,

We want to welcome you to the Seminary Online Learning Center (SOLC) of the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at 老司机传媒.  It has been a great privilege to work on the development of the course(s) you have registered for.  We hope that you find the lectures not only informative and insightful but also enjoyable.

On your course web page you will find important information for your distance course. It is important that you read through the course outline to know what is required of you in your course.  We also encourage you to look at the online discussion rubric.

The Lecturing Professor teaching your course has assigned a Supervising Teacher (facilitator) who works closely with him, and who will also serve as your mentor and guide.  He/she is the first individual who will contact you once you sign-up for an online course. Your Supervising Teacher (facilitator) is an expert in the area of your course, and he/she manages your online course.  They will not only help you achieve your purpose, but make this journey stress free and successful.

You may contact your Supervising Teacher (facilitator) with any questions you may have about the lectures or assignments. The contact information can be obtained from the course page as well as obtained from the course outline (course syllabus).  Please check your course outline carefully to see what is expected of you.  Most courses require you to engage in weekly discussions.  For some courses it is important that you maintain your reading requirements in order to participate in the discussions.  Your Supervising Teacher (facilitator) manages the discussion board and will remind you of what is expected of you.  Please note that you will not be able to pass the course if you do not view your course videos.  Bear in mind that your Lecturing Professor and Supervising Teacher (facilitator) are able to see if you viewed your videos or not.

The Digital Learning and Instructional Technology Center (DLIT) is also at your disposal and can help with any difficulties you might experience in respect to your course videos and technology in general.  In the event that you lose access to your course videos or cannot find your course on the web, please contact your facilitator first and then DLIT office dlit@andrews.edu

On your course page you will also find information in respect to the Seminary Online Learning Center.  We are here to help you and so any feedback regarding a course, positive or negative, would be much appreciated.

Thank you for choosing to take an online course, and your willingness to work with us. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.  God bless.
