Rhonda Root, Master of Fine Art (University of Notre Dame), Professor of Art (˾ý). She has been an exhibiting fine artist, professor of fine art, and art and architectural history professor for over 40 years.

Presently Professor Root teaches a variety of Architectural History and Art courses, co-directs the European Study Tour, and mentor’s junior faculty as they enter the teaching profession and research. She has traveled extensively throughout the US, Europe and the Near East focusing on research interests in art and architecture historical periods. This lifetime of experience and knowledge has been applied to her University teaching in both art and architecture, and as an archaeological illustrator, has resulted in over 30 research grants (including in 2009, co-directing an NEH Summer Institute for Teachers: “Daily Life in Ancient Times: Archaeology in Israel & Jordan” with 30 participants from across the US.), over 40 major and peer-reviewed publications, over 20 professional conference presentations, and in over 30 national and international fine art exhibitions both nationally and internationally.

Professor Root also presently serves as Assistant Dean for Curriculum, CAS Graduate Programs, and Director of the General Studies Program in the College of Arts & Sciences, and has recently been appointed as the Academic Advisor for the School of Architecture & Interior Design. She has served as Chairperson of the Department of Visual Art & Design for four years.
