Partnering with your local municipalities and officials is a gateway to becoming part of the community. Local authorities are happy to be involved with their constituents. Our schools often cannot manage these relationships, so assuming that you have received approval from your school, create those connections. Become familiar with your police department, fire department, public works, mayor's office and city council. Go to your city's website for contact information. Let them know you are representing both the interest of the school and church and want to see how you can better serve the community. Follow up with an invitation to visit your school. Any one of these groups can do a show-and-tell that provides a unique experience for your students. Also, this will help ensure that as the city develops they will have your church and school in mind.
