General Information

Program length

• MA: Typically takes 2-3 years (maximum 4 years).
• EdS, EdD, PhD: Typically take 4-5 years (maximum 7 years).
• Those who apply for advanced standing have a maximum of 5 years to complete their programs.

Application deadlines

To be part of the upcoming 2024 cohort, which starts with the Orientation (July 22-26), Annual Conference (July 28-29), and Roundtable sessions (July 30-31). International students planning to be part of the summer semester need to apply by March 1.
Because the department practices rolling admissions, students are welcome to submit applications anytime throughout the year. However, please be aware that if an application is submitted after the following university deadlines, it will incur a late fee of $70 to get registered during that semester.


• Fall (August - December): July 30
• Spring (January - May): November 15
• Summer (May-August): June 1

 

Eligibility requirements

MA

  • Baccalaureate degree: A four-year degree from an accredited United States institution, or its equivalent from an institution outside the U.S.
  • English proficiency: Students whose native language is not English must submit a minimum TOEFL or MELAB score of 80.
  • Undergraduate GPA: Minimum 2.60 (or 2.75 on the last half of undergraduate courses). The entire student profile is considered during the admissions process; students who do not meet the minimum GPA requirements may also apply.

EdS, EdD, PhD

  • Master’s degree: Earned master’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited university with adequate preparation for the proposed doctoral specialty.
  • English proficiency: Students whose language of education is not English must submit a minimum TOEFL or MELAB score of 80.
  • Graduate GPA: Minimum 3.00 (or 2.75 on the last half of undergraduate courses). The entire student profile is considered during the admissions process; students who do not meet the minimum GPA requirements may also apply.
  • Employment: Currently employed, and five years employment history.


Admission requirements

  • Official transcripts: From institutions where all post-secondary coursework was taken. Download Transcript Request PDF
  • GRE scores: The exam must have been taken within five years prior to admission.
  • Recommendations: For the MA, two recommendations are required from professionals—such as advisors, major professors and employers—excluding relatives. For the EdS, EdD, and PhD, three recommendations are required. You are asked to provide names and email addresses on the online application, and then recommenders will receive an email with a direct link to the form.
  • Resume or professional history: Information about your employment, research, or special projects.
  • Statement of purpose: A 500-word essay explaining your objectives in seeking a graduate degree at 老司机传媒. Include a description of your personal, professional, and academic goals; your philosophical perspective; and what you hope to accomplish professionally in ten years following the completion of your degree
  • Interview: Face to face or by conference call with a faculty team.
  • Commitment: To return to Andrews each summer for the Annual Conference.

Additional requirements for international students

  • English proficiency: Students whose language of instruction is not English must demonstrate English proficiency by meeting the minimum scores.
  • Transcripts: Transcripts submitted by international students will be reviewed by the Credential Evaluation Office, following 老司机传媒's current country-by-country guidelines. 
  • Bachelor’s degree diploma: A copy of the literal English translation of the diploma, along with the original-language document may be sent by email. A copy of the diploma is not needed if the transcripts list the graduation date and degree conferred.
  • Secondary Documents: A copy of these Secondary Documents may be required where applicable. (Baccalaureate for the French system, Abitur Diploma for the German syste, A-level results for the British system)
  • Summary of Educational Experience: Complete the educational summary form and submit to the Office of Graduate Enrollment Management.
  • I-20 form: International students must obtain an I-20 form before applying for a visa. The requirements for obtaining an I-20 form are:
  • Academic acceptance
  • Payment of $3,000 advance deposit (not required for Mexico and Canada, $2000 for Summer 2024)
  • Submit the Estimated Budget Sheet showing evidence of financial resources for one academic year
  • A full semester payment in advance is required for citizens of Kenya and Ethiopia
