CIDP GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS

Requirements: Students must be enrolled with at least 8 credits and maintain a GPA of 3.0 to be eligible for a graduate assistantship. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the CIDP program director. Contact CIDP office for questions and availability.

Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA)

The Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences through the Community and International Development Program have a limited number of graduate research assistantships. In these assistantships, students will work directly with Social and Behavioral Sciences faculty on research projects. In many cases, students are able to publish or present their findings. As part of their work responsibilities, students working as graduate research are expected to use the timeclock to punch in and out when working at the office and to keep track of time worked in order to get paid. Every Monday by noon your supervisor will review the time put in and submit approved time. Daily reports of what has been accomplished during work hours should be communicated with the supervisor.

Graduate Assistantship (GA)

Positions available to full-time graduate students. Looking for students who are positive, communicative, proactive, enthusiastic and do their best. We are willing to provide a letter of recommendation upon request for those who demonstrate good work ethic. You also have the opportunity to earn a scholarship from us when going the extra mile. After working one month for our office we will sit down for a performance evaluation.

GRA & GA RESPONSIBILITIES

GRAs and GAs are expected to:

  • work in the CIDP office
  • use the timeclock to punch in and out
  • keep track of time worked in order to get paid
  • communicate with Program Director and Admin Assistant when you can’t make it in for work
  • communicate when you will make up the missed hours unless a different agreement has been made
  • provide daily reports to your supervisor of what you have accomplished

GAs are expected to:

  • check with Admin Assistant and Program Director to see if there is anything urgent
  • make sure you or another GA sitting at the front desk (take turns if necessary)
  • answer phone calls / take messages
  • answering people's questions and requests as they visit the CIDP Office
  • work on tasks as assigned

GA JOB DESCRIPTIONS

The tasks and responsibilities can vary depending on what is needed during the semester.


Office Assistant

Your main tasks include assisting with Career Fair prepping, social event planning, collecting data and project design, assisting professor with class preparations, keeping office clean, decorating office for different seasons.


Program Assistant

As a Program Assistant you might gather stories from alumni, assist with research, help with recruiting events, work on displays and bulletin boards, and help Social Media assignments.


Program Development

As part of your Program Developer role you will help with Social Media management, researching and creating marketing strategies and materials, and possibly help with recruiting events.


Public Relations

You will mainly be working on our fundraising projects - mailing information, sending thank-you cards to donors and maintaining our donor list database. Knowing Word and Excel is preferrable.

Graduate Research Assistant

You will mainly be working with Dr. Joel on research that you agree upon.
