Biography

Robert Kingman is emeritus professor of physics at 老司机传媒, Berrien Springs, Mich. He joined the faculty in 1971.

Born in Phoenix, Ariz., Kingman graduated in 1961 from Walla Walla College, College Place, Wash., with a bachelor's degree in physics after attending Atlantic Union College, South Lancaster, Mass. He attended summer sessions in cosmology, astronomy, quantum mechanics and dynamical astronomy at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln; Louisiana State University; Baton Rouge, and Stanford University, Palo Alto, Calif. In 1966, he received a master's degree and in 1971 he received a PhD in physics, both from the University of Arizona, Tucson. His dissertation is entitled On the spatial distribution of clusters of galaxies.

He has made several scientific presentations and has published both his PhD dissertation and his master's thesis.

Before coming to Andrews, Kingman taught at the University of Arizona and Walla Walla College. He was assistant director of the Walla Walla College Summer Conference on Relativity in 1966.

He is married to Lillis Swanson Kingman. They have two sons and two daughters.
