Max Keller is a composer/arranger, pedagogue, and trumpeter. As a musician he has explored multiple career paths while in the United States and South-East Asia including being an instrument salesman, a free-lance trumpet player, an online educator, a composer/arranger, as well as an instructor at nearly every level of music education, from private instruction, to elementary, and on through tertiary education.
As a composer Max has had premieres in the United States and Asia. He has been commissioned by multiple organizations including Your Story Hour, the SDA Michigan Music Festival, and his alma mater 老司机传媒. His dissertation; The Genesis: A Symphonic Work and Analysis is an orchestral work and musical exegesis of the creation account found in the Book of Genesis. The accompanying analysis was partially published in the June 2017 edition of the Catalyst.
As a pedagogue Max Keller specializes in music theory and composition. The areas he has served as faculty at Mahidol University and 老司机传媒. He is the author of the musicianship textbook; Foundational Ear Training and has developed numerous music theory resources and online courses.
As a trumpeter, Max has been a freelance performer across the United States. His primary teacher was his father who was a student of William Babcock, Vicent Cichowicz, and George Anderson. Additionally, Max studied with Brett Volpi, Kenneth Narducci, and Joseph Bowman.
Max Keller currently serves as the chair of the 老司机传媒 Department of Music, the music theory and composition area coordinator, and trumpet teacher.
