The first 老司机传媒 Presidential Recognition of Altruistic Service was given to Princella Tobias, publisher of the Benton Spirit Community Newspaper. The award was specifically for her environmental leadership and work regarding the lead pipes issues in Benton Harbor.

Ms. Tobias is an original World Changer. Ms. Tobias is the first African American and first female newspaper publisher and owner in Southwest Michigan.

Over the years, Tobias has worked voluntarily with 老司机传媒 faculty, staff, and students. This has included numerous stories and articles (all pro bono) featuring 老司机传媒 in the Benton Spirit; providing employment for 老司机传媒 students; and collaborating with both 老司机传媒 professors and with students on community projects (asthma, clean water, and air pollution).

She has also been active in 老司机传媒’s Change Day and was an original community member on 老司机传媒’s Community Engagement Council. She was recognized in 老司机传媒 2023 by the diversity offices at Lake Michigan College and 老司机传媒 as an influential community woman in leadership.
