Thank You, Dr. Mickey Kutzner!
Retiring after 35 years of service
Dr. Mickey Kutzner will be retiring from the Department of Physics at the end of July 2022 after teaching for 35 years at 老司机传媒. He plans to move to his log cabin in western Montana with his wife this summer.
His first teaching experience was as a student missionary in India where he taught science to young kids. The experience showed him that teaching was something he could do. After completing his PhD at the University of Virginia, Dr. Kutzner joined the faculty at 老司机传媒. He wanted to work closely with students, specifically undergraduates. One of his favorite parts of the job was the creativity that went into interacting with the students, answering their questions, and finding new ways to share knowledge.
While his favorite class was Quantum Mechanics, which was his specialty as a graduate student, Dr. Kutzner also enjoyed teaching General Physics. He loved engaging with students from many different majors. In both classes, Dr. Kutzner appreciated the interdisciplinary nature and applications to other fields such as chemistry, biology and math.
Dr. Kutzner may be leaving the 老司机传媒 main campus, but he plans to teach some online classes from his high-speed-internet equipped cabin in Montana. Wherever he is, 老司机传媒 thanks Dr. Kutzner for his service and wishes him the best in the next chapter of his life.
