Position summary

Assistant Director will work within the Center for Community Change, a Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary to provide training and mentoring support to project participants with community development and social innovation, also in needs assessment, grant writing, and project management.

Qualifications summary

Graduate level degree - M.Div. preferred with a minimum of 5 years in pastoral ministry within the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

 


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Duties and responsibilities

Daily Duties

• Maintain knowledge of core requirements for training and mentoring in community development and social innovation.


• Advise project participants about Center policies in close consultation with the Center Director and Project Manager


• Help develop, distribute, and maintain materials that will assist program participants in tracking their individual progress and implement project evaluation that demonstrates the Center’s effectiveness.


• Build and manage active lines of communication with various program partners and community stakeholders.


• Support the Center’s management in the production of the annual program report.


• Update program mentees’ records and maintain documentation files


• Prepare and present weekly mentoring updates, along with recommendations for improvements.


• Coordinate program schedules with participants colleagues, faculty and stakeholders.


• Consult the course schedule and produce syllabi to meet program requirements.


• Use remote technology to provide support to mentees/participants.


• Maintain a professional environment


• Be an effective communicator and team player


• Field enquiries from prospective participants.


• Assist with special projects.


• Other responsibilities as requested by the Center Director.

Supervisory responsibilities

This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Graduate level degree - M.Div. preferred with a minimum of 5 years in pastoral ministry within the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Language Skills                                         

The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Center management, program participants, fellow mentors, mentees, faculty, Seminarians and stakeholders.


Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

Technical competencies

The ability to read and analyze correspondence and reports, develop grant applications, and interpret and produce instructional material. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and stakeholders.

 

Interpersonal interactions

The Assistant Director must have a positive and friendly personality and be willing to provide support to program participants. Must be willing to train participants and interact on a professional level with faculty and mentors. Must be willing to advocate on behalf of participants and work independently.

Physical demands

Be able to handle loads up to 10 lbs., sometimes up to 20 lbs.  Requires a lot of walking or standing, Close vision for computer work. Ability to talk and listen clearly. High demands of phone and zoom interactions with participants.

Work environment

Must be able to travel (in economy) between 10 to 15% of the assignment. Environment is varied and can be demanding. Provide spiritual guidance to participants.
