Position summary
The Department of Biology at 老司机传媒 is looking for a highly qualified biologist to fill a tenure-track position, beginning fall 2025. The successful candidate will demonstrate capacity for effective college biology teaching, productive research and research mentoring, and scholarly service; good interpersonal skills; and commitment to the integration of faith and learning. The specific field of expertise is negotiable, but the successful candidate will demonstrate ability to teach broadly in biology.

Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
The faculty member will fulfill all duties expected in an academic position. These include effective performance in the following areas:
- Teach assigned courses and regularly review and improve their teaching.
- Initiate and maintain a research program that leads to publication.
- Mentor students in research, including presentation and publication of the results.
- Maintain regular office hours and respond in a timely way to student communication.
- Carry a normal advising and recruiting load for the department and communicate effectively with advisees and recruits.
- Participate in professional service to the department, school, and where appropriate professional societies.
- Integrate faith and learning in the context of Seventh-day Adventist faith.
Supervisory responsibilities
Supervisory responsibilities for student workers who serve as teaching assistants, research assistants, and graders. This includes:
- Identifying student workers to support the department.
- Equipping student workers for success with training
- Supervising student workers' work.
- Supporting students' growth and success in their assigned tasks.
Qualifications
The university seeks vibrant applicants dedicated to integrating the SDA Christian faith with their field of biology. A Ph.D. (or equivalent) in the biological sciences from an accredited institution is required.
- Ability and knowledge to teach lower-division & upper-division biology courses and other courses assigned by the department.
- Track record of research engagement and publication in peer-reviewed literature.
- Demonstrated strength in oral and written communication, organization, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Capacity for positive outcomes of teaching and/or mentoring. Strive for excellence and growth in student learning.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments.
- The successful candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to the integration of faith and learning.

Technical competencies
- Evaluate and use appropriate technology for engaging student learning opportunities.
- Current knowledge and experience in the use of information and computer applications and learning management systems or proven ability to learn such skills.
- Professional communication in person, over the telephone, through email, and other electronic means

Physical demands
A successful candidate will meet the physical demands described here as essential functions of this job.
Candidates must be able to transport and arrange standard biology teaching laboratory equipment and supplies. Occasionally, faculty members need to move and lift boxes or containers with supplies of up to 30 lbs.
The individual will stand for periods of time in a classroom or laboratory. Work on a computer or electronic device for long periods of time.
Work environment
The work environment in Price Hall would include a private office, biology teaching and research laboratories, conference rooms, classrooms, a departmental office, and a 130-seat amphitheater. Work in close proximity to other faculty, staff, and students. 老司机传媒 hosts a modern multi-building academic campus located in a campus-wide arboretum. Most students live on campus.
