Position summary
Looking for a leader committed to the supervision, wellbeing, and safety of students of grades K-8 in the after-school program. Coordinate and direct activities such as homework, art, craft activities and games.
Qualifications summary
Experience working with children ages 5-14. Communicates well with parents and co-workers. Commitment to work 5 days per week, Monday to Thursday 3:30 to 5:30pm and Fridays 12:15pm to 3:30pm. Criminal background clearance required. Basic computer skills needed.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
- Plan and lead the afterschool program at RMES.
- Manage and maintain a learning environment that provides support to students of varied age and grade levels.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and attractive room for the students.
- Maintain an engaging program schedule for the duration of the session (3:45-5:30 pm)
- Provide ssupervision of the various activities planned, including but not limited to, homework, arts and crafts, games (indoor/outdoor), etc.
- Help students with homework, as needed.
- Be proactive in dealing with incidents.
- Communicate and build relationship with parents and teachers.
- Keep accurate attendance and anecdotal records for the students.
Supervisory responsibilities
- This position requires supervision of students in various activities in the classroom, computer lab, gym, and playground.
- Student health and safety is essential.
- Students must be supervised at all times. The basic rule is that children must be within sight of an employee or have been given permission to be out of the adult's presence for a specific and prudent purpose.

The employee must be able to operate at a reasonable level of competency, equipment common to the Extend Ed position but not limited to a computer, overhead projector, copy and laminating machines, telephone, paper cutter etc.

Physical demands

Work environment
The employee is subject to working in a generally well-lighted and ventilated classroom environment for 75% of the time. Time will also be spent in the gymnasium or on the outside.
