Position summary
Full-time, tenure-track, associate professor, 100% teaching appointment, in the School of Population Health, Nutrition & Wellness at ÀÏ˾»ú´«Ã½.
Qualifications summary
- DrPH or PhD in public health or related field.
- A minimum of one year of teaching experience at the university level is required. Online teaching experience is a plus.
Preferred:
- 3-5 years of teaching experience at the university level
- Experience with health promotion and health education
- Experience with research and publications
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
The faculty will work closely with the MPH Director and the school chair. He/she will primarily be teaching in the areas of health promotion and health education, including the following courses: Foundation and Techniques of Health Promotion; Health Disparity; Principles of Curriculum & Instruction in Health Education; Community Needs Assessment; Quantitative & Qualitative Research Methods. In addition, work duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Teach courses in the MPH program.
- Support other programs within the school as needed.
- Develop course curricula.
- Prepare course syllabi.
- Align courses with CEPH standards and/or other accrediting bodies as needed.
- Provide mentorship to capstone and integrated learning experiences (ILE) students.
- Advise Public Health Programs’ students.
- Apply for grants in the areas of research and other public health initiatives.
- Support service initiatives at the school and university levels
- Communicate regularly with the School Chair (Supervisor) regarding research, teaching updates, and initiatives.
- Conduct research leading to publications.
- Monitor national initiatives in the field of public health as well as programmatic innovations and best practices.
- Involve in student club organizations.
- Supervise student workers and graduate assistants as needed.
Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, and attending professional development conferences and training courses as required.
Supervisory responsibilities
May supervise graduate assistants and student workers.
Qualifications
- DrPH or PhD in public health or related field.

Technical competencies
Microsoft Office, SPSS, SAS, NVivo or equivalent qualitative analysis software, GIS, online teaching platforms.

Must be comfortable working with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
