Position summary
Oversees all aspects of the PhD Counseling Psychology and MA Counselor Education students’ clinical training experiences for the GPC department. Help in coordinating departmental efforts in establishing training sites for MA student placement and works with APPIC as the Director of Training for the doctoral Counseling Psychology program to facilitate student internship placements. The coordinator collaborates with the Andrews Community Counseling Center Director as well as other faculty in constructing student application guidelines and procedures for counseling students. The coordinator will have both administrative and teaching duties.
Qualifications summary
- Candidates are required to have a doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology preferably with a State licensure as a Counselor (LPC)
- EPPP licensure required.
- 5 years or more of clinical experience
- Experience of online/remote/distance teaching
- Experience in practicum and internship supervision
- Evidence of scholarship through research publications and presentations
- Advanced skills in verbal and written English
- Detailed oriented and organized with good analytical skills.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
* Liaison for the department, site supervisors, and students to ensure the highest of quality training experiences for students.
* Inform site supervisors regarding departmental training requirements and ensure sites provide supervision and training opportunities as required.
* Manage clinical training placement for all doctoral and master counseling students and approve contract paperwork.
* Work with CE and CP Program Directors and faculty to establish the process of determining students’ suitability and readiness to apply for and participate in practicum and internship.
* Manage data and documentation of students’ training experiences.
* Committed to maintaining an open line of communication between faculty, students, and site supervisors to proactively deal with issues that may arise. Respond to general inquiries regarding practicum and internship.
* Be available to teach courses at various times, including evenings. Some travel may be required.
* Stay informed of current trends and new approaches to counseling, and new developments in the counselor education field via professional development activities. Maintain professional development/growth according to personal needs and certification requirements.
* Maintain an active research agenda demonstrated through presentations at national conferences, and publications. Participate in student dissertation committees, serving as either chair or member.
Supervisory responsibilities
Directly supervise 1-2 graduate assistants. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications

Technical competencies
- Beginning to Intermediate skill level in MS Office.
- Effectively organize a wide variety of documents, files and information in various formats and levels of confidentiality.
- Ability to prepare a wide variety of reports and written materials (e.g., correspondence, notices, letters, data analysis, handbooks, minutes, newsletters, etc.).
- Video platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google doc, Learning Hub, etc.)
